Antibiotics

I'd rather not take antibiotics

When I was in the 2nd year of college, my face was full of inflamed acne. One of my classmates whose father was a doctor, told me to take antibiotics. But I did not. I have acne on my face and visible scar all of life. I have tried every way, but acne continues at my old age. At my old age, one doctor told me, taking medication rather than applying medication on the face is necessary. Someone I know has been taking it for years for her acne. She said she takes antibiotics as long as it’s needed to control an acne outbreak. What are advantages and disadvantages of long term taking of antibiotics? I prefer not to take antibiotics to clear my acne, and I wonder what the alternatives are.
